Entry-level in this industry doesn't mean a junior desk job with a salary. Life insurance agents are almost always commission-based independent contractors, and that's true at Maxivita. What makes a role entry-level is how much help you get at the start: licensing guidance, product and compliance training, and someone experienced in the room for your first appointments.
What you'll learn first
- How to run a needs-based conversation and recommend coverage a household can actually keep.
- How to complete applications accurately and follow Florida's rules on replacements and disclosures.
- How first-year commission, advances and renewals work, and how to avoid chargebacks.
- How to build a weekly activity plan and track it with your mentor.
Where the work is
Training is based in Apopka, and agents work across the metro: Orlando, Kissimmee, Sanford, Lake Mary, Ocoee and Winter Garden, Clermont and Apopka. Bilingual agents are especially valuable in Kissimmee and Orlando.
Choosing where to start
Compare agencies on training, transparency and whether they charge you for leads, not on the biggest number in a recruiting post. Our scorecard for choosing a company lists the questions to ask, including us.
The facts that don't change
- A license is required. You need a Florida 2-15 Life & Health (including annuities and variable contracts) license before you can sell. That means a state-approved 60-hour pre-licensing course, the state exam and a background check. See how to get licensed in Florida and our 2-15 exam study plan.
- Pay is commission-based. This is independent contractor (1099) work with no salary or hourly wage. You earn commission on policies you place; results vary with effort, skill and market conditions, and no income is guaranteed. Read how commissions work and what chargebacks are before you commit anywhere.
- You get training and support. A producing mentor sits beside you in your first appointments, you see the full comp grid before you sign, and we never sell leads to our agents.
